You may have found this page because you read some death threats against Matt Parker and his family posted on the Internet. As you noticed, there is a lunatic with a lot of time on his hands attacking me and my family. He’s intent on destroying our reputation, our business and our lives. In addition to his vicious and outrageous lies, he has threatened the lives of my family and continually tries to incite others to attack us. He has no conscience or sense of decency, he doesn’t care who gets hurt in the process. He routinely throws names and photos of innocent people completely unrelated to me into his hate-filled rants because he thinks they “might” somehow be connected with me. He is a very sick person.
If you took the time to find this page, it probably means you’re curious why someone hates me so much that he wants me and my family killed. I’m working with the police on this matter, so I can only go into little detail about it here. Way back in July, 2002 we caught the attacker repeatedly hacking into a server I once managed. After we asked him to stop, we received threatening letters, mail bombing and more hacking, so I reported him to his ISP. He also used a stolen credit card number to pay for our services. I reported him for that. Apparently this upset him, so in retaliation he began posting lies about me all over the Internet, trying to incite others to attack me, the sites and the sever I managed. It backfired when he tried this tactic on a web site forum dedicated to “searching” the Internet. One talented guy there found out all sorts of embarrassing and damaging information about the hacker, his crimes and predilections. He disappeared for a long time after that, and I truly thought we’d heard the last from him. But many months later, in the middle of 2003, he began new attacks against me and my family, spreading nasty lies and sending us death threats. I again reported him to the University where he was using the Internet (in Belgium). Again he stopped – for awhile, while frantically trying to remove all traces of his crimes from the Internet. He had created many aliases (used in his various crimes) which were exposed in the above mentioned forum. When he was unsuccessful in doing that, he apparently completely lost his mind …. with the result that you have seen for yourself. Why he blames me for all of his problems, I don’t understand. It’s futile to try to apply rational motives to those who seem to be insane. I guess he blames me for the loss of his alter-egos and the exposure of his other crimes/habits.
Incidentally, I no longer own any of the dating related web sites that are mentioned in his diatribe. I sold them all nearly two years ago. The attacker must know this, but he doesn’t seem to care. By the way, the dating related sites are (and always were) family oriented web sites (not of a “sexual nature”, but simply personal ads/dating/pen pal web sites). The hunting and wilderness adventure web sites are also completely unrelated to me. They simply reside on the same sever. All of the attacker’s accusations are completely untrue, outrageous, unsubstantiated and unprovoked. But anyone with good sense can see that for themselves. Nevertheless, he’s asking others to kill or hurt my family, and I do take the threats, the harassment and the libel very seriously. The damage done to myself and my family (and the potential for more) are very real.
Among many other illegal and weird activities, this guy likes to impersonate people. In his attempt to remove all traces of himself from the Internet, he would often pose as an attorney or some fictitious (or real) organization. Now he’s trying to pretend that he and I are the same person, attempting to hopelessly confuse anyone investigating him. Another favorite ploy of his is to accuse others of his own crimes (sound familiar?). Most everything he’s accusing me of, he’s guilty of himself. His purpose in his endless Usenet/Internet spam is not only to libel, threaten and harass me and my family, but also to cover the tracks of his past crimes by the sheer volume of misinformation. There is evidence of his other crimes out there still that he’s trying to bury. Many of those “aliases” that he lists in his spam are ones he used in commission of his crimes in the past – many are names of “real” (and innocent) people who he impersonated; others he just invented and threw into the list for the sake of confusion.
So, who is this nut case harassing us? If you’re interested in online research and willing to sort through all of his spam, you can find that out easily enough. For the time being, I’ve been asked to not mention his name or address.

As an honest person with nothing to hide, I posted my name, home address, phone number and other personal information on our web sites back before this all started. If I could have foreseen this insane situation, I would not have done that. Internet stalking and identity theft are the fastest growing crimes around the world. Protect your identity! The Internet is a wonderful resource, but unfortunately it provides courage and a vehicle for anonymous attack to otherwise sick cowardly people.
Note to the attacker: Please get yourself some professional psychological help as soon as possible.
